Object & Field

In my first year Spring Studio, we were the “Object & Field” assignment. The goal of the project was to create a reflective/meditative space. The form should be organic and it should have a close relationship with its site.

The focus of my project became the cantilever reaching over the site. My seat of reflection was along that cantilever on the inside of the form. A visitor would be forced to walk back to this sitting spot and turn 90-180 degrees around to experience the form and site. The bottom portion of the site would be water (seen in renders below). The water was an attempt to reflect light back into the form from underneath, but also to dramatize the reach of the cantilever.

The white form was 3D printed. The purple foam base (site) was cut using a hot wire.
